While NERF gun fights are a wistful pastime, new-age kids have grown enamored with a different form of a toy weapon. As the demand for water-hydrated gel balls has grown, NERF has listened and looks to deliver with its high-octane Pro Gelfire Mythic blaster, its first effort in the rapidly-growing gel blaster segment.
The new release from the famed Hasbro subsidiary offers far more power and range than your standard foam dart-blasting NERF gun. It is powered by a rechargeable battery and features a fully-automatic mode and semi-automatic mode, the latter of which will conserve your ammo. Moreover, the blaster comes equipped with 10,000 dehydrated Gelfire projectiles that expand when soaked in water.
As far as the blaster’s capacity is concerned, it boasts an 800-round hopper and is sure to get the job done in the backyard or (toy-filled) battlefield. What makes this option even more appealing is that the Gelfire projectiles burst whenever they nail a target, which sheds the traditional need of having to stop play to locate any lost foam darts. In addition to the blaster, ammo, slide-in battery, and charger, NERF’s latest product also comes equipped with a set of protective eyewear to ensure your safety.
The high-performing blaster might be a change of pace from your average foam dart-operated option, but we’re not complaining. The NERF Pro Gelfire Mythic is expected to ship on November 1, but you can pre-order it today for $80.
